![]() ![]() ![]() No longer seeing the value in the fighting game genre, Capcom took some convincing before they gave the green light (independent of one another) to Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was pushed to the back burner in favor of more action oriented games. Though it seems like a slam-dunk in retrospect, at one point Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Ryota Niitsuma discussed the fighting game genre's resurgence, detailed how characters were chosen for MvC, and dropped a few hints in regards to the online play. In Speaking with Famitsu, producer on Marvel vs. Gamers would be surprised to hear that even publishers like Capcom, a house known for delivering top tier fighting titles, began to shy away from the games that had helped fuel their early success. Up until a few years ago, the fighting game genre was in a struggle to find its place among the action titles of the next gen console era.
